Prague, Czech Republic
Easter weekend was spent in Prague. We flew out on Friday 09/04/04 and arrived in Prague late afternoon. We stayed in the Arcotel, Teatrino which was actually an Austrian hotel. On the Saturday, we went on an organised tour of Prague taking in the Castle, St Vitus Cathedral, Charles Bridge etc. In the afternoon, we went to the Old Town Square and the Old town Hall with it's Astronomical clock. We then walked over Charles bridge with its' range of stalls and street acts. In the evening I went to a concert of Smetana and Dvorák.
On the Sunday, we decided to go back to the Castle and St Vitus' Cathedral to look at in more detail. We went up umpteen towers over the weekend. We also went to St Nicholas' Cathedral. According to the guide books, there should have been a John Lennon murial on a wall, but when we found it, it had been painted over and graffitti!!
On the Monday, we went up to the park on the Funicular. There, they have a model of the Eiffel Tower to go up (yet another tower to climb!!). Then in the evening, it was time to catch the flight home.
Prague is a very cheap place: a restaurant meal and beer is £7 and an all day tram ticket is £1.40.
