Walking

I enjoy walking and most of my summer holidays are walking ones, mainly in the Alps. I thought I would share some of my walking experiences here. This is the walks I have either done or partially completed.

I have a rather neat iPhone app called Trails, which uses the phones GPS receiver to act as a GPS logger. Using this and a piece of Mac software called GPSPhotoLinker, I can geotag all my photos. Geotagging is embedding GPS coordinates and placenames into the photos meta data. Alot of photo viewing software is geotag aware and will display a map showing where the picture was taken. Once you have a series of geotagged photos, you can create kml files which opens GoogleEarth and displays the photos on there.
