Walking - A Coventry Way

ACW Logo A Coventry Way

The Coventry Way is a circular country walk around Coventry through Warwickshire countryside. The entire walk is approx 40 miles. There are also 21 circular walks ranging between 5 and 12 miles that touches the main route. The official start / end point is at Meriden, although I have started at Ryton-on-Dunsmore! There is an official A Coventry Way website that organises events including doing the whole thing in a single day!

Here's the route that I've completed so far, shown in red. Click map to open a larger.

Stage 1 - Ryton-on-Dunsmore to Ansty

On 13/04/09, set off from Ryton-on-Dunsmore for a 10.5 mile stretch to Ansty, with my friend Matt, taking in Wolston, Bretford & Brinklow. In all, it took just over 5 hours of walking time. Needless to say, a stop in a pub for a pint was inevitable. Most of the walk is across countryside with only a small section on road. It also goes along the Oxford Canal for a short way.

Here's some downloads of the walk:-

GPX File (60kB) GPS waypoints taken on the walk used for geotagging
KML File (16kB) as above but in GoogleEarth / Google Maps format

And here's some photos taken during the walk (click to open larger versions):-
